Giulio and Paul Steiger have today an important influence on the design of Walter Steiger’s collections, but is Walter himself the Heart of the creative process.

• Walter Steiger was born in Geneva on 7 February 1942. Since he was very young he wanted to work along with his father who was a shoemaker. Walter starts his apprenticeship at the age of 15 years and works until the age of 20 in a prestigious atelier of top-quality shoemaking in Switzerland.

• In 1962 He arrives in Paris to join the studio Capucine and designs the col- lection for Bally Madeleine.

• In 1963 He moves to London and participates to the “Swinging London”: designs shoes for Mary Quant and Michelangelo Antonioni chooses his shoes for his movie "Blow up".

• Walter ‘s designs are noticed by Lady Rendlesham and his shoes get photo- graphed by Queen, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

• In 1967 Walter decides to return to Paris. He presents his first collection under the family brand name and it’s a huge success, especially in the United States. Jean Widmer of Jardin des Modes introduces him to Ungaro and he starts designing shoes for his collection.

• In 1974 He opens his first boutique in Paris, rue du Tournon. He designs shoes for Chloé, Montana, Lagerfeld, Kenzo, Alaïa.

• In 1982 Walter opens his first store in New York, on Park Avenue, and de- signs for Bill Blass, Oscar de La Renta, Calvin Klein.

• In 1986 he installs his design studio in Ferrara, Italy, where he lives with his family in a renaissance palace.

• In 2006 He returns to the fashion scene in Paris and opens his boutique in London at 48, Sloane street.

• In 2009 the Opening of “Maison STEIGER Bottier” 33 Avenue Matignon, Paris - Where the excellence in Made to Measure shoes becomes Art.
